Privacy Policy

The short version
The tax calculators on Solo1099 run entirely in your browser. The numbers you enter never leave your device. We do not have an account system, we do not ask for your name or email to use any tool, and we do not store your inputs on our servers.
What we DO collect is limited to what is needed to run a website: standard server logs, anonymized analytics, and (if you opt in) email for our newsletter.
What we collect
Server logs
Like every website, our hosting provider records the IP address, user agent, and URL of each request for security and operational purposes. These logs are automatically deleted after 30 days.
Analytics (Google Analytics 4)
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are popular, how readers find us, and where the site can be improved. GA4 sets cookies that anonymize your IP and aggregate usage data. We do not sell, share, or join this data with any personal identifier.
You can opt out of GA at any time by installing Google's opt-out browser add-on or by enabling "Do Not Track" in your browser.
Advertising (Google AdSense, when enabled)
Some pages may display advertisements served by Google AdSense and its partners. These services use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings or visit aboutads.info to opt out of third-party vendor cookies.
Affiliate links
When you click a link to a partner service (TaxAct, FreshBooks, Bench, etc.), the partner may set its own cookies to attribute the referral to Solo1099. We receive a commission if you purchase, but we never receive your personal information from those partners. See our Affiliate Disclosure for details.
Calculator inputs
Income, expenses, and other figures you type into the calculators stay in your browser. They are processed in JavaScript on your device and never transmitted to a server.
Newsletter (only if you opt in)
If you subscribe to our quarterly tax reminder newsletter, we store your email address with our email service provider (Buttondown / Resend) for the sole purpose of sending those reminders. You can unsubscribe with one click using the link at the bottom of every email.
What we do NOT do
- We do not sell your data to anyone.
- We do not build cross-site tracking profiles.
- We do not require an account to use the calculators.
- We do not store calculator inputs on our servers.
- We do not share newsletter emails with third parties.
Cookies
Cookies set on this site fall into three categories:
- Strictly necessary — required for site functionality (e.g. remembering theme preference). Cannot be disabled.
- Analytics — Google Analytics 4. Aggregated and anonymized.
- Advertising — set by Google AdSense or affiliate partners after you click an ad / referral link.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies will not affect the operation of the calculators (they do not rely on cookies for computation).
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Request access to the personal data we hold about you (likely just your newsletter email, if any).
- Request correction or deletion of that data.
- Object to processing or request data portability.
- Withdraw consent at any time (e.g. unsubscribe from the newsletter).
California residents have additional rights under the CCPA. EU/UK residents have rights under the GDPR. To exercise any of these rights, email info@solo1099.com.
Children
Solo1099 is not intended for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site evolves (e.g., adding new analytics or payment providers). Material changes will be noted at the top of this page with an updated "last updated" date.
